The NHS Mail team have now announced that the NHS Mail SMS service will end at midnight on 31 March 2015. However, for existing primary care users only, NHS England will provide a replacement SMS service from 1 April until 30 September 2015.
Details of the replacement SMS service being provided by NHS England are not yet available, but it is expected that MJog will be able to be reconfigured to utilise this service, thereby providing uninterrupted messages at no cost for Primary Care users (until 30th September 2015).
Non Primary Care Users and Post 30 September
For all non Primary Care users, (and for Primary Care users after 30 September 2015), MJog will be able to deliver SMS through MJog Limited’s own SMS service at very competitive message pricing.
CCGs and Large Groups
If you belong to a CCG or large group who wishes to use an alternative SMS provider, this may also be possible. In this case we request the CCG/group talk directly to MJog Limited to determine compatibility with MJog’s gateway requirements.
How does it work?
When you switch to MJog Limited’s own SMS service there is nothing for you to do. MJog will automatically start sending messages through MJog Limited’s SMS gateway.
In addition to this seamless integration and competitive pricing, your Patients can reply directly to these messages (no longer needing to select ‘use number’). You also have the option of sending much longer SMS messages, up to 500 characters per message (please note there is a per segment charge).
What do I need to do now?
Don’t panic! MJog Limited is working hard to ensure compatibility with the replacement SMS service being offered by NHS England. We expect this to be a seamless process but will release further information once available.
CCGs or large groups should talk directly to MJog to establish the way forwards post September 2015. You can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
MJog Limited already has a fully featured SMS gateway used by private healthcare and non NHS customers. Your MJog can utilise this gateway ‘at the flick of a switch’! When you switch to the MJog SMS gateway you or your CCG/group will be billed by direct debit in arrears for your messages. No pre-pay, no managing top-ups, no long term or volume commitments, no fuss.
